Running a business and managing a team takes work. As you may know, we have an office in LA, one in London and then a team who works remotely around the world. It’s incredibly important to have our team connected, productive and in the know, without any hassle.

I'm not sure if you've heard about Microsoft Teams, but essentially it’s a Microsoft 365 app to communicate and collaborate with your team all in one place. Sounds amazing, we know!

Here’s how Microsoft Teams makes running a business & managing team communication easy:

Video conferencing anywhere!

Whether you travel often or work remotely, distractions are everywhere. Background Blur in Microsoft Teams subtly conceals my computer background to ensure my team members (or whomever I’m conferencing’s) stay on task and pays attention to what I’m are presenting.

I’m able to maintain my privacy when conferencing someone outside of my network. They only see what I want them to see!

Separating work time from me time

When I’m on vacation or simply out of the office, I can enable the Quiet hours feature on my desktop or mobile device.

This allows me to “shut off” when I need to. As you know, I’m all about making sure you unplug and recharge yourself regularly – this allows me to do just that!

Recording and sharing multimedia

At BossBabe, we are always recording and sending messages to one another. Microsoft Teams allows us to record, send audio messages, videos and screenshares! We are able to record interactive meetings and share information / content easily.

When you record, your video will be uploaded to Microsoft Stream, so you can share it securely within the company.

Other time savers

Teams also has built in Microsoft 365 applications like:

  • Microsoft Flow: Allows us at BossBabe to create and automate workflows and tasks to ensure everyone knows what needs to be done and who needs to do it. This is very helpful when you grow as rapidly as we do!
  • SharePoint: Is a place for us to share, organize, collaborate and access any information on desktop or mobile. From memes to spreadsheets, this is a great place to house all of our important items.
  • OneNote: Having a digital notebook that allows us to keep and share written / typed notes and audio is important to us. Our brains are always creating and it saves so much time being able to write down ideas and share them instantaneously.

Microsoft Teams really helps us stay connected and productive day in and day out, in and out of the office. There are so many collaboration and productivity features within the Teams app that make running and managing an international business, like BossBabe, effortless!

  1. I love these tips, Natalie! I resonated with the separating the work time with the me time a lot.

Having a remote team makes it rather a challenge since everyone’s on a different Time Zone, but Slack was actually the tool that allowed us to organise it properly. Also, conferencing with Skype / Zoom specially on those client meetings straight from the Slack app have been a time saver as well.
