Crystals are mysterious and powerful fragments of nature. And along with other modalities and practices, they seem to be increasing in popularity. After all, what's not to like about a tool that helps with intention setting, positivity, and universal alignment?! There's something oh-so-good about embracing your inner witch (#downwiththepatriarchy).
Imbued with the energy of the earth, humans, and crystals have had a definite relationship for millennia. We utilize them to ward off evil, heal and attract prosperity. When we set intentions with crystals, they become a focal point for us, bringing us back to that intention. We still have to show up and do the work – but crystals are great tools for helping us notice opportunities we could otherwise miss.
Here are four crystals to keep in your workspace:
Clear Quartz
This shows up on almost every “crystals for…” Google Search due to its incredible ability to manifest reality and amplify energy. Clear quartz brings clarity to the mind – perfect when you need to focus on articulating ideas. It's a great stone for intention setting and as a bonus, clear quartz amplifies other crystals around it.
Citrine
Just like the sun, yellow citrine graces any space with light and positivity. Its affinity with the sacral chakra encourages creativity. As a reminder to bring joy, imagination, and confidence into your work, try placing a citrine on your business cards.
Black Tourmaline
This jet black stone absorbs negative energy and transmutes it to positive energy, which makes it great if you encounter difficult situations in your workspace or. Black tourmaline also absorbs electromagnetic energy transmitted from electronics – keep one near your phone or computer.
Pyrite
Sometimes called ‘fools gold' due to its gold-like flecks, Pyrite attracts luck, success and wealth. Pyrite protects against debt and uses third eye chakra energy to attract prosperity.
While attributing powerful meaning to rocks sounds woo woo, we use quartz crystal every day in precise and intelligent ways. A great example of this is to keep time.
This short explanation from Explain That Stuff sums it up:
“Inside a quartz clock or watch, the battery sends electricity to the quartz crystal through an electronic circuit. The quartz crystal oscillates (vibrates back and forth) at a precise frequency: exactly 32768 times each second. The circuit counts the number of vibrations and uses them to generate regular electric pulses, one per second. These pulses can either power an LCD display… or they can drive a small electric motor… turning gear wheels that spin the clock's second, minute, and hour hands.”
With or without the science, if you believe crystals (or any other practice) help you, then they do. There are many explanations, perspectives and experiences of reality within our little corner of this limitless universe. Trusting yourself and taking time to explore any new practice is the key to understanding yourself and uncovering a little magic in the world.
There's so much to uncover about crystals. Each crystal is known as having certain traits, affinities with chakras, star signs, emotions… the list goes on. Each shape also has a different purpose.
