find clarity, become more fulfilled

We’ve all been there at some point or another. Feeling stuck in a rut, unfulfilled and lacking clarity whether it’s in a job we don’t like, a relationship that isn’t going anywhere, or maybe just simply that we’re unclear on what we want for our future.

Trust me, you’re not alone!

I spent my whole life “clear” on the steps I was going to take to be successful.

Wanted the degree, the high-paying job, the super hot but didn’t “realize” it husband and our 2.5 kids.

I was going to live in the city but vacation in the country and life was going to just be oh so perfect.

Boy, was I f*cking wrong.

I followed the steps I thought would get me there, got the degree but it didn’t lead to the job I desired, was loyal to the wrong “Mr. Rights”, who proved to really be a bunch of “Mr. Hell Nos”.

And I found myself constantly searching for the answers without any real guidance or direction.

Frankly, it was exhausting.

And I bet you’ve felt a similar way at some point.

For me, I was lucky enough to become integrated into some amazing social circles with individuals very socially aware and emotionally intelligent so I found myself being forced to level up.

Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t have it all together, but quite honestly, no one ever does, and that’s okay.

But they’ve taught me a lot of things that have finally given me that clarity I so desperately desired.

And it’s that clarity that takes you to that next level in life, it’s f*cking gold!

Because once you get really, unapologetically (buzzword of the day) clear on what it is you really want, the path suddenly comes into focus in a major way.

Here’s what you do to gain clarity:

Visualize AND write down your best life. I’m talking EVERYTHING.

  • What are you like?
  • Where do you live?
  • Who have you surrounded yourself with?
  • What are you doing?
  • How does it feel?

Be as specific as you possibly can be because my friends, this is the life you’re going to create for yourself.

Now the kicker that most people don’t do and why when we make these “vision boards” and goals that don’t ever quite come to fruition is we fail to ask ourselves one important question.

Why do we want those things?

What is the end result you will receive if you get the high-paying job, the hot but doesn’t realize it husband and the 2.5 kids?

If your answer is “I don’t know, I just want it” you will never truly reach that stage of happiness because you won’t even understand what that is.

Becoming clear on what you want and WHY is the key to unlocking everything.

You’ll find once you really think about it, certain things won’t feel important anymore and your vision gets really specific.

And a specific vision leads to a specific plan of action to get there.

So what are you waiting for?

  1. Fantastic. I remember when I set out to start my first business. My now almost 18 year old son was in surgery (football injury to the hand). I was sitting in the waiting room. He was almost ten years old. I had a notebook and an ink pen. I sat there and I basically wrote out what I would love to do and what I would fucking hate to do as a business. I described my business as if it were a person…down to what it would eat…because I wanted to know more about my future from a visual perspective so I could find the right steps to get there.

Fast forward to now, that first business lasted about three years. I went into teaching (college). Now, I work full time from home in a different capacity (copywriting, although there is some overlap as far as the industries I work with). Yet, knowing the answers to my initial questions as well as the questions mentioned here in the article were imperative.
